The Egyptian Collection
The Egyptian Collection is a series of sculptural pieces of abstract wall art in various sizes. They can be displayed individually, or in groups to create a large installation. The style and adaptability of these pieces is especially suited for the modern home and workplace.
The artist’s inspiration is drawn from ancient Egyptian artefacts, the sun and moon, the elements and natural corrosion. The art evokes images of a lost culture seen through modern eyes, with a vision of the inevitable. Each piece has been given an Egyptian name along with its English translation.
The work is created on boxed, stretched canvas using a variety of natural and manufactured materials including textiles, paper products, sand and plaster. The textures are built up in layers and the rich metallic colours are achieved with acrylics, enamels and lacquers, giving a worn, antique effect. The use of metallic colours and the sculptural effects makes the appearance of each piece change when viewed from different angles and in different light. Every piece is totally individual and unique and can never be reproduced or repeated.
